Rangers Striker Kris Boyd signs with Middlesbrough
1:39 PM
Scotland
striker Kris Boyd has joined Middlesbrough on a two-year deal, the
English second-tier side announced on Monday.
The 26-year-old turned down a new contract at Scottish Premier
League champions Rangers as well as a big-money offer from Turkish side
Kayserispor in order to make the move.
Boyd
is the recond goalscorer in SPL history with 164 goals including 101 in
118 league starts for Rangers following his switch from Kilmarnock in
January 2006. He has also scored seven goals in 16 appearances for
Scotland.
Middlesbrough were relegated
from the Premier League in 2009 and finished 11th in the second-tier
Championship last season.
